Appearances can be deceptive: Making a fake collar
For those who don't like wearing shirts or blouses but still want a collar, a fake collar is the answer. In this workshop, adults will set to work with a collar and section of a shirt with buttons. Children will make a fantasy collar.

Adults In the workshop _Appearances can be deceptive, _you will make a fake collar to wear under a sweater. The collar is attached to the upper part of a shirt or blouse (without sleeves, but with a short row of buttons). You will learn how to make a collar and buttonholes using a sewing machine. The collar pattern is unisex and available in sizes from XS to XL. Those with little sewing experience can make a classic collar using the pattern. Those with more experience can experiment with the shape of their collar.
The workshop costs ¬19.50 and includes supervision, patterns, materials, use of equipment, tea or coffee and a snack. Some sewing experience is desirable, but adventurous beginners can also participate. Please note: lunch is not included but Het Nieuwe Cafe offers a range of sandwiches and salads.

Children Why wear several layers when you can wear a fake collar? During a visit to the exhibition Designing the Surface, children will learn that appearances can be deceptive. They will then make a collar that gives the illusion that they are wearing a shirt or blouse under their sweater.
The workshop costs ¬5.00 and includes entry, a short guided tour, supervision and materials.
