Bakri Shoukeh is a craftsman when it comes to plissé, a technique in which permanent pleats are formed in the fabric by means of moulds and ironing. Bakri, who comes from Syria, had a flourishing plissé business in Aleppo. His designs were popular all over the Middle East. Since 2014 he and his workshop have been located in Huizen. He uses his unique knowledge to help designers and fashion students to incorporate plissé in their designs.
During this workshop you learn more about the background of the art of plissé. Afterwards, equipped with an iron and various moulds, you get to grips with this unique technique yourself. The material is provided.
